We have a very large spruce tree that needs to be taken down. I asked B&B Tree Service - one of three arborists - to give me a quote. Their quote came in at over double the amount of the other two. The appraiser said himself that the job was not easy and could not guarantee not damaging the house. He dismissed the option of rigging or zip-lining this job which I thought was odd considering the other two companies didn't hesitate to do this because of the risk of house damage. When I expressed concern the appraiser said, "Then don't cut the tree down". Wow, that was the most unacceptable and arrogant response. They obviously do not need or want the business. It was a true waste of my professional time. By the way, I am a female professional engineer. Perhaps the appraiser didn't like the fact that I knew what I was talking about.
